It's no secret that Colorado is home to stunning landscapes and nature. Due to its diverse landscapes and climates Colorado's wildflowers bloom in a spectacular show of blues, purples, oranges, and more, transforming the state into "colorful Colorado" each year. With spring finally here, wildflowers are about to explode into color, and outdoor enthusiasts are likely curious about when they should hit the trail in search of the stunning bloom.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife reports that July through August is typically the peak viewing time for wildflowers. You can also check with park staff at a specific location to learn more about local bloom times. Park staff also provides bloom lists, trail guides, and other educational documentation.

That said – blooms can vary by elevation and terrain.

Wildflower blooming takes place at various times throughout the spring and summer, and various factors impact exactly when it occurs. According to the website Colorado.com, wildflowers begin to spread their petals as early as April and May on the eastern plains. However, in the Rocky Mountains in western Colorado, the snow doesn't melt until until mid-June or later thus peak season in those areas is usually July and August.

Regardless of when the bloom takes place, Colorado's wildflowers are worth seeing, as they can make some of the state's most beautiful scenery even more stunning, filling mountains and alpine meadows with vibrant colors and smells.
