The results are in – after 32 competitors were whittled down to a lone restaurant over the course of more than a month, a winner has been crowned in the Denver Gazette's inaugural 2024 Denver Taco Tournament.
The order to determine a champion, various Mile High City taco shops faced off head-to-head in a 'March Madness-style' bracket, with the winner of each round determined by public vote. In the final round, the two taco spots left standing were Tacos Selene and Venalonzo's.
The Denver Gazette reports that Venalonzo's was the victor in the face-off, beating out Tacos Selene 354 votes to 173.
As might be expected, Centennial's Venalonzo's has extremely high reviews online – 4.8 of five stars on Yelp and another 4.8 of five stars on Google Reviews.
Many visitors claim the tacos found at Venalonzo's are the best they've ever had, with customers raving about the birria tacos, the al pastor tacos, and the breakfast burritos.
The win in the Denver Gazette taco tourney isn't the first time Venalonzo's has been recognized for its greatness either, with Yelp ranking the spot 22nd on its list of the 100 best taco shops around the country in 2023.
A Colorado restaurant that patrons say lives up to the hype, Venalonzo's is worth checking out.
