A fire with a 'high potential to spread quickly' has sparked west of Durango, prompting a pre-evacuation notice for 85 residences. Durango Fire Protection District is heading up the response.

The wildfire is located in the Lightner Creek area near the Lightner Creek Mobile Park. Initially, the blaze was reported to be 3 acres in size, but high winds could cause the fire to quickly spread.

Those in the pre-evacuation zone, which includes the mobile park, are asked by authorities to pay close attention to potential updates.

This is a developing story.
