With the onset of warmer weather, maintenance and upgrades will affect traffic through Interstate 70's Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnels. Lane and tunnel bore closures will vary and there will be 20-minute delays as vehicles are alternately escorted through the open bore.

Because the work will be primarily at night, delays are expected to be minimal.

Work over the summer will see single lane and full bore closures with alternating traffic.

“The projects include improvements to drainage, fire department hose connections, freeze protection, signage and security, and repairs to the tunnel liner to decrease water intrusion,” said a release from the Colorado Department of Transportation.

There will be full overnight westbound closures of the tunnel with alternating traffic using the eastbound bore during the following times:

• Monday, April 29 to Thursday May 2 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

• Sunday, May 5 to Thursday, May 9 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

• Sunday, May 12 to Thursday May 16 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
