El Paso County Search and Rescue deployed a Sno-Cat Tuesday evening to help rescue a utility worker stranded on a road near Almagre Mountain.

Teller County Search and Rescue initiated the search, but weather conditions forced it to call the El Paso County crew around 4 p.m. because it has a Sno-Cat, said EPSCAR spokeswoman Teresa Burgess.

“Apparently it’s snowing pretty bad up there,” Burgess said.

Burgess said she did not know the exact location of the worker or how long he had been stranded. She said the Sno-Cat crew had reached the area and was being removed from a trailer to begin the search for the worker.

Almagre Mountain is southeast of Pikes Peak.

“Hopefully they can get up the road pretty quickly,” Burgess said.
