Hiked Black Forest section 16 this morning. Temperature was only 8 degrees when we started and 22 when we finished. The snow on the trail slowed us a bit.

Hiked at Stratton Open Space yesterday. Once you go more than 1/2 mile on the trails, especially if you're headed up, you lose the other open space users.

I now have hiked 299.5 miles this year. My goal in January was 300 miles. Looks like I'll surpass the goal tomorrow with a 10K through Garden of the Gods.

Hiked up Crystal Trail above Green Mountain Falls on Wednesday, but came down the Catamount Trail through the Garden of Eden. I thought Crystal Trail was a bit scary. Lost my footing a couple times.

Yes, it is that steep. 1,600 feet of elevation gain in less than 1 1/4 mile.

Hiked the Paint Mines out in Calhan today. I see something new there each time I hike. It might just be the way the light bounces around the canyons. They are beautiful.

If you step off the trail, you have to be very careful. The cholla cactus is everywhere. I put my hand on some as I was climbing up a steep section.

There was so much bear scat on the trail. We didn't see any bears though.
