ENGLEWOOD - Every day this offseason, Denver Broncos cornerback Domonique Foxworth has reviewed one play in his mind. On Pittsburgh’s first drive of the AFC Championship Game, Foxworth had his hands on a pass in the end zone, but he didn’t make an interception because receiver Nate Washington wrestled it away and the pass fell incomplete. Pittsburgh got a field goal on its next play “I still think about that every day,” Foxworth said. “It always crosses my mind. That’s the kind of play that changes momentum and make the game go in a whole different direction.” Foxworth said he has improved since then. He and fellow second-year cornerback Darrent Williams will battle for a starting position opposite Champ Bailey in training camp. Foxworth said he and Williams have split time with the first team, a rotation he assumed would continue through the start of training camp. “I know both of those guys are going to help us,” safety John Lynch said. “I’ve been impressed from Day 1 when they came in, with the maturity playing a position that’s tough to play. And you can see them taking the next step.” The competition hasn’t been acrimonious. Foxworth and Williams became immediate friends last season. They relied on each other for support. Each spent part of last season in the starting lineup. When Williams went down with a groin injury, Foxworth took his starting spot. “We went through the whole thing last year together like twins,” Foxworth said. The Broncos are finishing up a two-week team camp this week, and Foxworth said his year of experience has helped him recognize plays and how an offense is trying to attack him. Foxworth said he has made a number of plays in practice that he wouldn’t have made last season. He hasn’t separated himself from Williams because he said Williams has been making plays as well. “Right now we’re back and forth, neck and neck,” Foxworth said. Trusty on reserve The Broncos placed tight end Landon Trusty on the reserve/injured list Tuesday. Trusty, who was signed Jan. 9 and spent most of last season on San Diego’s practice squad, has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
